My Journey
Hi, I'm Mathieu Sanchez de Souza, currently pursuing my Master's in Robotics at EPFL (2024-2026), building on my Bachelor's in Microengineering from the same institution (2020-2024). My path from the precision world of microengineering to robotics has been driven by curiosity about how we can create intelligent systems that solve real problems.
My microengineering background gave me a solid foundation in precision and attention to detail, which now helps me in robotics projects. I'm particularly interested in AI and Machine Learning, Control Systems, Human-Robot Interaction, and Embedded Systems. Through my coursework and projects, I've worked on developing deep learning models for computer vision (like U-Net architectures for chocolate recognition), implementing PID position controllers for steer-by-wire systems on STM32 microcontrollers, designing precision mechanical sensors with adjustable stiffness, and creating synchronization systems for biomechanical data acquisition. I enjoy breaking down complex problems and finding practical solutions.
What excites me most about robotics is its potential to genuinely help people, especially in areas like rehabilitation and assistive technologies. I'm always eager to learn new things and take on challenging projects that push me to grow. I'm looking for opportunities where I can contribute to meaningful work while continuing to develop my skills in this rapidly evolving field.
